Key Operations
Aircraft Hijacking Attempt
August 20, 1971
When instructor pilot Matiur Rahman attempted to hijack his T-33 trainer to India, Rashid Minhas tried to regain control. Unable to overpower the hijacker, he deliberately crashed the aircraft near Thatta to prevent it from reaching India, sacrificing his life for his country.
Legacy
At age 20, Rashid Minhas became the youngest recipient of Nishan-e-Haider and remains a symbol of ultimate sacrifice and devotion to duty. PAF Base Kamra was renamed PAF Base Minhas in his honor.
