History
First opened by Royal Air Force in 1923 as a beach area facility
Received RAF and British personnel arriving by amphibious aircraft
In 1942, RAF leased 1,007 acres from Government of Sindh
Served as logistic base for aircraft repair depot at RAF Drigh Road
Engines and spare parts transferred from Korangi Creek to Drigh Road (now Shara-e-Faisal)
Channeled equipment to Bombay to support RAF units across British Raj
Station headquarters closed on 1 April 1946
Continued to be commanded by RAF personnel until 1949
First PAF station commander: Wing Commander A.R.K. Malik (December 1949)
Designated as technical training base for PAF officers and airmen
School of Aeronautics (SOA) established April 1951, inaugurated by Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan
SOA established reputation for successful training domestically and internationally
School of Electronics (SOE) moved from PAF Station Malir to Korangi Creek in 1963
Currently involved in UAV development and aerospace technologies
Now produces EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) qualified technicians
